The sun is shining brightly….

on this Wednesday morning in central Illinois.  It is too warm and humid to have the windows open so I can’t hear the birds chirping.  I can see by looking out my front window that the workers are back working on the houses cattycorner across the street from me.

I have big plans for this, another day that I have been granted.  First to run some errands (again) then to sit down and take stock of my life and what lies ahead for me.  You know, one day you are young and pretty and you have your whole life ahead of you.  The next day you look around and your children are grown.  Your husband of so many years has been taken from you.  Members of your family and friends are gone too, many taken by the dreaded disease of cancer.  Suddenly it becomes very real to you that you have had your 15 minutes of fame or maybe even 20 minutes.   I am not complaining, just taking a minute to thank God that I have been granted one more day.

Prayer requests…

I am asking for prayer for several of my friends today.  Kind thoughts will be fine too!

This morning my next door neighbor Debbie is having serious cancer surgery.

Tomorrow our dear blogging friend Sandie,   http://chattycrone.blogspot.com/ is having serious cancer surgery.

Thursday my brother-in-law Hugh in West Virginia is starting treatment for bladder cancer.

Pat and Darrell in West Virginia are both fighting terrific health battles.

I love these people and I know what they are going through as it has been 1 year since I was first diagnosed with cancer.  Thank you all so much.

Dreary rainy day here.  Remember the song The World is Waiting for the Sunrise by Les Paul and Mary Ford?

Just to set the record straight and Illinois is proud…

I need to set the record straight on the turkey and the miniature pony.  I was correct about the fox catching poor Snow.   As for the rest of the animals I am posting a quote from my sister.  “The animals on the farm were given to animal rescues or caring people. The only animal purchased was the miniature pony for my son-in-law’s birthday. The other animals came from other animal rescues.”  Thanks to my sis for helping me get  the facts straight.

And now I sadly admit that there has not been an awful lot happening here in Illinois lately to make me feel a great sense of pride.  Julia Collins, thank you for brightening my days the last 3 weeks.

He is Risen….

  1. Low in the grave He lay,
    Jesus, my Savior,
    Waiting the coming day,
    Jesus, my Lord!
    • Refrain:
Up from the grave He arose,
With a mighty triumph o’er His foes,
He arose a Victor from the dark domain,
And He lives forever, with His saints to reign.
      He arose! He arose!
      Hallelujah! Christ arose!
  2. Vainly they watch His bed,
    Jesus, my Savior;
    Vainly they seal the dead,
    Jesus, my Lord!
  3. Death cannot keep his Prey,
    Jesus, my Savior;
    He tore the bars away,
    Jesus, my Lord!

Spring has left….

please come back.  It was very chilly and windy yesterday morning. It is in the 20s now but the sun is shining brightly and that is a big plus.

I wore my winter coat , hat and gloves to go shopping at Bergners yesterday for their Black Friday sale.  I don’t know why I get sucked into their sales.  They did advertise towels at buy 1 and get 2 free.  I did take advantage of that although I saw some at the K-Mart this week which actually felt much nicer.  And I found a summer T which I kind of like but not madly in love with.  I have this burning question each time I go clothes shopping, ‘Why is everything all gauzy see through with the neckline cut almost to the belly button?’  I am not talking about the junior section.  I am talking about the woman’s section.  I wear a size 10 and a size 7 shoe which always makes me wonder why everything I like in the shoes has no size 7, just 8, 9, 10, or 11.  I am always told it is because  size 7 is the most popular size.  So because of that please tell me your shoe size (only if you want) and I will take a poll and let you know in tomorrow’s post what the most popular size is.  That’s OK Paul, you can tell us your shoe size too!

You know there is one nice thing about living in a rental place.  I needed a couple of things done here yesterday.  I called the office and within 2 hours there were 2 guys here and poof, problem solved.  After 4 years here I know all of the guys in maintenance and they are great!

Tomorrow my daughter is being honored at both services for her 25 years service to her church.  There will be a reception and I will attend.

A few things that made me happy this morning.

1.  I got out of bed!

2.  I could see when I opened my eyes!

3.  I was able to make my bed!

4.  I was able to get dressed without help!

5.  I had food to eat!

6.  My house was warm!

Thank you God for another day!

I hope this is a good day for you all.  Stay safe and be happy!!

Getting Caught Up..

This has been the winter to top all winters.  I can only remember one winter in my lifetime that was worse.  That would have been the winter of 1978-79.

This is a PDF document.  If you have a minute take the time to read the abstract at the beginning of the document.

This has certainly been a winter to match and all set to exceed that winter.  It has been one snow storm after another, followed the next day by way below temperatures and gusty winds.

I have been stuck in my house so much that the tank of gas I bought for my car right after Thanksgiving has not reached the halfway mark yet.  I have experienced cabin fever to almost the manic degree.

So bad that I have been constantly baking something almost every day.  I have gained back most of the weight that I lost during my cancer treatment.

Footprints in the snow made by the paper carrier recently.  I am so ready for Spring.  I want to see a robin so bad that I would even go walking with him to Missouri (my birth state).

Stay safe and be happy!!

Yippee!!

the countdown to Spring is on a downward trend.  It is 65 days now till spring.

I know a lot of you like the snow and the winter weather.  Me, not so much.  I like to look at the snow and I feel all warm and fuzzy when I am safe inside and a blizzard is blowing outside.  A good book to read and something fattening to eat and I am in HOG HEAVEN for 2 or 3 days.  Then reality sets in and I start to realize that I am stuck indoors for an indeterminate period.  Winter weather started here right after the tornado on November 17th and we have had bouts of bitter cold temperatures and mega amounts of snow.  We have a winter weather mixture predicted for this afternoon.

Most of you know that I spent all of my married life and my children were born and raised in the small town of Paxton Illinois.

This display is new since I sold my home and moved from Paxton over 3 years ago.  Please visit the second link and take time to listen to the music.  The lights are synchronized with the music  and it is an awesome sight!!
